Enjoy the Ride

Scanlon Mellowes April 29, 2025
“Like I said before, your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.” — Anthony Bourdain I will proudly boast that one of the best habits I adopted over the past year is decentralizing social media from my day—specifically, deleting TikTok and setting strict time limits on other apps. My head feels clearer, my to-do list takes priority, and instead of mindless content consumption, I fill my evenings with journaling, working out, and spending time with friends.

Setting the World Ablaze

Mary Perez September 17, 2024
Fire destroys, so why do the Jesuits tell us to go and set the world aflame? Maybe they just want a new world order where Jesuits reign supreme and everyone has a liberal arts education. Reflecting as a BC senior, however, I believe Saint Ignatius had a less dictatorial image in mind.

The Fruits of My Labor and the Myth of Constant Improvement

Olivia Franceschini February 5, 2024
There’s even evidence for why reflecting on a past self and predicting our future is such a difficult exercise. While it’s relatively easy to recall our past feelings and recognize the differences between then and now, it’s a much larger struggle to project our own futures.

Opinions October 29, 2023
Despite long having outgrown the Halloween trick-or-treating tradition, Boston College students continue to celebrate the holiday with a costume or two … or five.

Growing Up and Growing Out

Makayla Hickey September 24, 2023
If you had asked me a year ago to define what home meant to me, I would tell you it was the winding back roads that I spent endless hours driving down with my best friends.

Not All RAs Are Created Equal

Mary Perez September 17, 2023
I aim to point out problems involving BC’s Residential Life so the University can understand the frustrations RAs on campus face.

The Sophomore Condition

Mary Perez March 19, 2023
People change. That’s a big part of what college is for: self-development and personality exploration. These are the years we decide who we want to be, and more practically, who we are going to be.
