Silence is used as a weapon to protect perpetrators of sexual violence and assault, according to Shawn McGuffey, the keynote speaker at the Boston College Women’s Center’s annual Take Back the Night event.

“Nations are no more real than race is,” said Philippe Copeland, a clinical assistant professor at the Boston University School of Social Work. “They were literally created by the same people for the same reasons—some of it over coffee.”
